It always assigns the same port (USB0001) and it’s not making multiple copies of the printer in Add Remove Printers (I have seen both of these problems in the past) He is a laptop user so he is unplugging it and plugging it back in every day. On one occasion when I did this it actually installed 2 printers of it’s own accord, 1 PCL5e and 1 PCL6 I set one of them as default and sent him on his way. If I try to unplug the USB cable and then plug it back in (to any port) I get the error message “USB Device not recognised …” However if I delete the printer and then plug it in it recognises it straight away and installs it, then it works for a while and fails again. Last Thursday I got a call telling me that the printer has ‘just stopped working’
The Printer Is a HP Laserjet P2015 which has worked perfectly for about 2 years. Our CEOs desktop printer is malfunctioning and I’m looking like a blundering idiot trying to fix it. I was wondering if anybody could help me.
